Officially Templed Out in Ayutthaya | Thailand

Image
The Reclining Buddha at Wat Yai Chai Mongkhol Who wouldn't be templed out if all you see in the past 36 hours were more temples? Yes they are differently named from each other, differently located in the city, but they mostly looked the same! Well, on our last moments in Ayutthaya, we detoured when we saw a sign that says "Floating Market & Elephant Village" - which was really quite a surprise for us because we didn't see that in the must-visit places on the list. The Floating Market was a fail as the market only happens in early hours of the morning and since it was noon time, we didn't see a single boat selling anything. Luckily, there are still shops and stalls along the river. Then we headed to the Elephant Village but since we don't patronize elephant riding, I was happy enough to just see elephants. They are really gentle giants! Then we headed on to the "white temple" as what they refer it to, but otherwise known as Wat Phu Khao T

Scooter Tour in Ayutthaya | Thailand

Image
Wat Chaiwatthanaram on sunrise    On our second day in Ayutthaya, we didn't waste much time as we started hitting the road on our rented scooter before sunrise to catch the beautiful sunrise at the Angkor-Wat look-alike which is situated outside the old walled-city of Ayutthaya which was Wat Chaiwatthanaram. The view was surely spectacular but some parts of the temple were being reconstructed so there were lots of elements that were unphotographable. Some beautiful images that we saw on Google were taken from the other side of the river, but that would mean another 30-minute scooter ride if we have chosen to do so. There was also an unforgettable incident that happened here, I dropped my iPhone and it had a bad landing so it was left with couple of dents. And yes, THAT was an unforgettable major incident for a techie like me. Obviously. LOL. The Thai scaled version of Cambodia's Angkor Wat Then we went on to a Unesco World Heritage Site called Wat Phra Si Sanphet. Th

Around Ayutthaya (Day 1)

Image
The iconic Buddha head at Wat Mahathat After a very bumpy yet adventurous  12-hour night train ride from Chiang Mai , we finally arrived Ayutthaya at around 5AM. But since our guesthouse only opens at 7AM, we waited up at the Ayutthaya Railway Station while people-watching. It's good that they have a quite an orderly station and it wasn't as chaotic as I thought it would be. So when we finally got into our guesthouse, we immediately took a proper sleep on the mattress and was woken up by our growling tummies. So we rented a scooter from our guesthouse for 300 Baht for the next 24 hours which was acceptable. Though it was quite a challenge for a Filipino driver who's used to driving on the right side of the road at first, Marlou finally got a hang of it as few minutes after riding the scooter. The tricky part is passing by the countless roundabouts in the city that I had to remind him over and over again to stay on the left after making a turn or after each roundabout.

Exploring Tham Lod Caves in Mae Hong Soon, Thailand

Image
Before we reached the town proper of Pai, we went to one of the amazing caves in the whole of Thailand called THAM LOD CAVE. Since it was very accessible for a cave, a lot of of tourists have been drawn into it, except when the waters are high during heavy rain. Exploring inside it was easy as the bamboo raft takes us to one cave after another and there were steps installed. But we encountered a snake along the way, and I was really shaken because it was my first encounter of a snake in real life! Watch this informative video.

Roadtrip to Pai Memorial Bridge | Pai, Thailand

Image
Pai Memorial Bridge Our Thailand adventure continues on as we hit the road from Chiang Mai to go to the small town up to the northwest of Thailand called PAI. The journey took 3 hours from Chiang Mai and along the way, we stopped by some great spots.     Getting on the wooden ferris wheel Wooden Ferris Wheel at Doi Kiew Lom Viewpoint First, we stopped by a local restaurant to try a local Thai noodle soup called 'Khao Soi' which was amazingly filling and yummy. Since we are light eaters, it was enough for lunch. Apparently, it's a dish that's only widely available in Northern Thailand. Our fave Thai noodle Khao Soi Then along the way, we stopped by at the Doi Kiew Lom Viewpoint where you can see an amazing view of Pai. There were lots of backpackers and tourists in that little park up there, taking photos and taking turns in riding the wooden ferris wheel. It was quite a challenge getting on it and making it turn manually with the help of

Wat Chedi Luang and Muay Thai Boxing in Chiang Mai

Image
Just walking distance from where we stayed in Chiang Mai, there were lots of tourist spots to check out. So after lunch, we walked towards Wat Chedi Luang and then later that night, we went to watch Muay Thai Boxing live. These are the places you should check out and and should include in things to do in Chiang Mai. Watch our fun video below!

Doi Suthep Temple in Chiang Mai, Thailand

Image
Sarita and Marlou at Doi Suthep Temple Driving 15 kilometers away from Chiang Mai city proper, we were able to see one of Thailand's sacred temples and a must-visit spot in Northern Thailand. Wat Phra That Doi Suthep or Doi Suthep Temple was named after the mountain in which it is located, Doi Suthep Mountain. The monks normally do their morning rituals during sunrise and evening rituals during sunset. And we actually missed the morning rituals when we arrived there. But it gave us more time to explore the temple itself. We also met some cute corgy dog family! Reuploading Videos On Our New Youtube Channel

Image
CLICK TO SUBSCRIBE! Hey guys! So I've been a Youtuber since 2005 but I was never really drawn to go full blast on Youtube. In fact, looking at my main Youtube channel now, it felt more like an archive of this-and-that videos: personal vlogs, band videos, travel, events, projects, etc. And since I still have lots of travel videos to share now that I'm in a mood to edit videos and blog again, we have decided to create a separate channel on Youtube which is just solely for Power Couple Travels . And I thought it would be a good idea to re-upload all our travel videos to our new channel coz why not?! So hope you can all support Power Couple Travels on Youtube   by subscribing and watching our videos. Love lots, Sarita

Power Couple Joins The KCK Fun Run 2018

Image
THE FUN RUNNERS Joshua, Brandon, James, Jasmine, Edlyn, Imelda, Marl, and Myself After a busy night at work entertaining a Saturday night crowd at the Lobby Lounge, we were fetched by our friends Imelda and Terry together with our friend Edlyn, to bring us to their place so we could easily all go together to the venue of the fun run. But upon reaching their place, instead of sleeping, we ate supper and talked until we felt tired. Luckily, we had a very quick nap just before our alarm set off at 5AM. At around 5:30AM, we were picked up by Brandon, a staff at Terry's company Pembinaan Tetap Teguh (PTT), and brought us to the venue in Klang where the fun run would take place. When we arrived there, there were already lots of people in red shirts, some in blue. However, since the three of us (Marl, Edlyn, and myself) are just joiners or what we call " saling pusa ", we didn't have spare t-shirts from the fun run. But we didn't come empty handed because we also w

Power Couple Travels is now on Youtube!

SUBSCRIBE! After a long time of indecision, Power Couple Travels is now on Youtube - FINALLY! You all know that I've been sharing our travel videos from my main social media accounts. Sometimes on our Power Couple Travels accounts on  Facebook ,  Instagram , and  Twitter . And on Youtube, I just use my main SARITAC account to share our travel videos which gets mixed with my other contents. Then one day, I have read that it's definitely better to have a separate account to each interest that you might have so they don't get mixed up like what happened on my Youtube account. So we tested creating a separate Youtube account for our travels and I guess it's better to stay this way. So now, I'm happy to finally announce that we are keeping our Youtube account. YES! And lately, I have updated it with an old travel video we have shared before. So, I'm planning to merge old travel video clips into a more straight-to-the-point version, so that instead of seeing

WE HAVE A NEW TRAVEL CHANNEL ON YOUTUBE! YESSSS! And guess what's our new channel called? Yup, you guessed it right. Power Couple Travels is now on Youtube ! It's been a while since we have posted edited videos of our travels. Our Facebook page is at least surviving with travel articles, but our Instagram account has had its longest hibernation period. And it's such a shame and definitely a waste of time starting up something that we couldn't continue. At last, we have come to our senses and we have decided to be more updated. And with the birth of our new travel page, WE ARE DEFINITELY BACK ON TRACK! You might have seen this trailer before but hey, it's such a waste, too, to not post this as our INTRO VIDEO on our new channel. So, if you haven't watched this yet, now is the perfect chance for you to do so. Click away! 👍🏽
